THE LILAC TREND

According to the Pantone Color Institute, Ultra Violet is the color of the year. As is evident from its name, Ultra Violet is a blue-based purple that leads us back to science and futuristic worlds. Among my passions and curiosities, the universe occupies one of the first places; I could spend hours thinking about what is there beyond the atmosphere and I would jump right away on a spaceship to find out.
Since it is a cosmic color, I find extremely interesting the explaination that PCI gives to this color:

“Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.”

But, returning instead to our small concrete world, I wanted to talk with you about one of the shades of purple that will be seen everywhere in shops and on the streets this spring/summer: lilac. Right next to all the other pastel shades, lilac is the color of the year. Lilac is modern and sophisticated yet it can become bolder by pairing it with patent leather or black leather trousers and skirts or with a total denim look. So lilac gives options and I love options. Each day you can choose who you want to be, depending on how you style it.

In conclusion I can’t end this article without giving credits to the beautiful Ganni jumper I would wear right now and always. But also the & Other Stories knit is pretty cool and soft (and a more affordable version).

WHAT I WORE IN A WEEK

February 27, 2018 by Beatrice Trinci 2 Comments

Surfing on the net, watching YouTube correlates after correlates, I came across What I wore in a week videos several times and, since I don’t make videos, I found super fun the idea of converting them into images, sharing real daily outfits. My last week was mostly an oversized one, with loads of layers due to the not so cool Siberian air, that’s hitting the whole country.
Somehow I’m “amazed” by these streetstyle snaps seekers, who easily walk in icy cities in midi skirts and dresses, like it was middle June. Of course I’m not the type. As soon as the temperatures go below ten degrees celsius I freeze and become the laziest person ever, while looking like a bear on the streets. For this reason I’m sad to spoil you won’t see sexy and shocking bare skin outfits while snow’s falling, but I still hope you will enjoy this post and what I wore in a week!

Monday is lazy. Mondays are for casual pieces. I wore a white hoodie (white is one of my favorite colors for winter) with wide leg jeans, Chanel inspired shoes and the perfect camel coat.

I usually prefer monochromatic looks, but on Tuesday I felt like mix- and matching a couple patterns. Personally I find that checked fabrics fit every color and every pattern – stripes, polka dots, flowers – so it was easy to combine the blazer and the shirt. Also I’m wildly into white boots lately, they can elevate the simplest monotone outfit in their basicity. White makes it very good on shoes, white sneakers in fact are the bomb (see here) and it was only a matter of time I became obsessed with boots of the same color.

I opted for some layers and cosiness for the sunniest day of the week but still the first one to get very cold (shouldn’t it be spring in 20 days?). Strolling around and running errands all day I just wanted to be comfy and warm, so I went for knitted trousers. This is one of my latest – and absolute favorite since – purchase and I love them so so so much; they are super elegant and comfortable at the same time; what more should a girl ask for? I styled these beloved cream trousers with my absolute favorites items, such as the Max Mara coat, the baker boy hat and the snake printed boots I wear at least four times a week! Needless to say I’m a fan and will keep wearing them non stop until spring will decide to actually sprung!

Goodbye sun, hello Burian and my fear of freezing. On Thursday I wore a slightly oversized tobacco coat with black patent trousers. To keep the outfit a bit boyish and warm I put on these old hiking boots I bought long time ago. Until few years ago I would have probably opted for cooler shoes, totally unsuitable for the season, but as the years passed I learned that staying comfortable and practical is key. I also find them perfect to wear with feminine pieces like lace or floral dresses and a nice jacket. I can’t wait for the right weather to do so!

I’m glad that puffer coats are a big trend now and I can walk around without feeling like the clumsiest person. I bought this Weekday red puffer last October in Berlin, while I was freezing in the city as usual (I never learn to pack for it). On Friday I wore it on a basic outfit I’m wearing on repeat: a white polo neck on wide leg jeans. Plus the white pointed boots that makes the simplest outfit look polished.

Over the weekend I spent most of the time between museums and cafés; therefore, staying indoors, I opted for lighter outfits.
On Saturday I wore Vagabond high knee boots and I love them, because they wrap the legs like socks – just how I want this kind of boots to be.

“Italiana” collects different Italian designers’ clothes, accessories and objects from the 70s to the early 00s. An unmissable exhibition for those who love the Made in Italy and the sartorial product with its tailoring. Instead, for those who prefer a more classic exhibition of art and paintings, the MUDEC is hosting “Frida Khalo – Beyond the myth”, an extremely moving and emotional exhibition, strongly focused on the most difficult aspects of the artist’s life, such as loneliness, illnesses and infirmity due to a serious accident when she was young.

While I was making researches for the trench coat post, I immediately fell in love with this plum patent coat I saw on ASOS and on Sunday I styled it with the same outfit I wore on Friday, I just changed shoes, wearing my current favorites!
Just an advice: I bought it in my normal size and it’s a bit oversized. So choose a smaller size than your regular one if you like tighter fits.

And it’s wrap! Last week flew by so fast and trying this column was pretty fun I may do it again in the future! Maybe as soon as spring will decide to sprung.
Hope you enjoyed it too! xx

TRENCH SEASON

February 18, 2018 by Beatrice Trinci No Comments

The trench was born more than a century ago, anyway it is a timeless piece, that suits every woman in every occasion. For the more classics, the camel or stone-colored trench coat has been re-proposed – as obviously every year – both by luxury and high street brands in different models and prices; it is, in fact, such a timeless and versatile garment, that it’s impossible not to see in shop- and virtual windows.

My favorite is the “Pisa” trench coat by Tôteme, I would wear it right away. I love its perfect burnt, nude color. You can find more classic models on MyTheresa. To follow some more affordable models I like as much, as the & Other Stories one. How beautiful with the double d-ring belt detail.

If you feel – or want to feel – less like Inspector Gadget and more like Neo, you can easily return to the despotic world of The Matrix thanks to the patent trend and wear a trench with a twist. Even trench coats are since a few seasons covered in vinyl: fuchsia, red, plum or black, you can choose from a rich color range, depending on your mood and personality. The choice is wide and it’s an easy way to make a powerful statement.

To make the vinyl trench work in real life – since it is not exactly a low profile coat – play it down, simply by making it the main piece of your outfit and style it with slip dresses or monochromatic looks.
